Abstract

In this work we consider a refractometer based on a Michelson interferometer (MI) integrated with a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI). In one arm of the MI there is a moving mirror and in the second arm there is an FPI. As the mirror is scanned, we get the interferogram of the first harmonic and the peak position is extracted for the calculation the refractive index. Then we study the characteristics of this refractometer. We discuss different parameters of such a refractometer. We consider peak position and resolution as a function of refractive index, center wavelength, bandwidth and reflection coefficient of the plates of the FPI.
