Abstract
The effect of cold drawn on the mechanical properties and structural defects of 6201 alloy used as conductor cables
was studied. The effect of heat treatment at 350 and 500 °C after deformation as well as deformed at room temperature (RT) was
investigated in order to identify an optimized heat treatment for different cold drawn samples. The mechanical properties and
microstructure were determined by using Vickers micro hardness (Hv) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The
Evaluation of three distinguished stages observed in this investigation was discussed by using positron annihilation lifetime (PAL)
technique. The present work demonstrates that PAL can provide valuable information about the microstructure of cold drawn 6201
alloy.
